The Expendables 4 (2023) – Review

The Expendables 4 (also known as Expend4bles) is the latest entry in the long-running action franchise, directed by Scott Waugh. The film brings back familiar faces like Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone, while introducing new cast members to refresh the series.

The story follows the Expendables team as they are sent on a high-risk mission to stop a global conflict involving nuclear weapons. As always, the team faces dangerous enemies, massive explosions, and intense combat situations that test their skills and loyalty.

One of the film’s main highlights is its non-stop action. It delivers exactly what fans expect—gunfights, hand-to-hand combat, and large-scale destruction. Jason Statham takes a more central role this time, carrying much of the film with his strong screen presence and action performance.

However, compared to earlier entries, the movie feels less impactful and somewhat repetitive. The storyline is quite weak and predictable, lacking the charm and excitement that made the first two films popular. The absence or limited presence of several iconic action stars also reduces the nostalgic appeal.

The visual effects and action sequences are decent, but not as impressive as modern big-budget action films. Some scenes feel rushed, and the overall production quality appears uneven.

Despite its flaws, the film still offers moments of fun for hardcore action fans who enjoy straightforward, no-brainer entertainment.

Verdict: The Expendables 4 is a typical action sequel with plenty of explosions and fights—entertaining in parts, but overall weaker than its predecessors.
